The Real Crisis of Media Is Not Strategy, but Submission.

June 10, 2026

The Real Crisis in Media Isn’t Strategy. It’s Submission.

We live in a generation obsessed with influence.

Everyone wants a platform.
Everyone wants a microphone.
Everyone wants to “use their voice.”

But very few people want covering.

The modern media world—social media, journalism, podcasting, commentary, influencing, entertainment, digital branding—is overflowing with voices that are gifted, intelligent, persuasive, and charismatic… yet completely un-submitted.

And that is dangerous.

Because the greatest issue in media today is not communication skill.
It is character without covering.

It is influence without accountability.

It is voices speaking publicly while refusing to be spiritually led privately.

The Age of Uncovered Voices

Most advice in media focuses on:

  • Hooks
  • Algorithms
  • Growth
  • Engagement
  • Virality
  • Branding
  • Positioning

But that is not the real issue.

The real issue is submission.

Many people want a voice but reject authority.
They want visibility without discipleship.
They want influence without correction.
They want to lead culture while refusing to be led themselves.

Social media created a generation where people can gain followers faster than they can develop maturity.

A camera can amplify your voice before God develops your soul.

And when gifting outruns character, destruction follows.

Spiritual Authority Comes From Spiritual Covering

Biblically, authority is never self-created.

True spiritual authority flows from submission to God and alignment with godly authority.

Even Jesus operated under the Father’s authority.

“I do nothing on My own authority, but speak just as the Father taught Me.” — John 8:28

If the Son of God operated in submission, why do modern influencers think independence is maturity?

The Kingdom of God does not celebrate rebellion disguised as authenticity.

There is a dangerous mindset in media today that says:

  • “Nobody can tell me what to say.”
  • “I answer only to God.”
  • “I don’t need pastors.”
  • “I don’t need accountability.”
  • “This is my platform.”
  • “I’m just being real.”

But biblically, isolated voices become vulnerable voices.

Uncovered voices eventually drift into pride, deception, offense, compromise, or destruction.

Because nobody was designed to carry influence alone.

Not Every Revelation Is Yours to Release

One of the greatest signs of immaturity is feeling entitled to publish every thought.

Just because something is true does not mean God assigned you to say it publicly.

Mature communicators understand stewardship.

Immature communicators confuse expression with assignment.

Some people post from reaction.
Others post from revelation.

Some post to prove.
Others post to build.

Some post to vent.
Others post to disciple.

That difference matters.

Before posting, every believer should ask:

  • Does this build or merely provoke?
  • Is this submitted to wise counsel?
  • Is this coming from love or offense?
  • Am I trying to help people or elevate myself?
  • Does this reflect Christ or my emotions?

Because communication is never neutral.

If you post, you are influencing someone.

The Danger of Independent Voices

The culture celebrates independence.

Scripture celebrates obedience.

Those are not the same thing.

Many influencers have built entire platforms on rebellion:

  • rebellion against authority
  • rebellion against correction
  • rebellion against doctrine
  • rebellion against the Church
  • rebellion against spiritual fathers and mothers

And eventually that rebellion shows up in their content.

Why?

Because whatever spirit covers you eventually speaks through you.

People often think spiritual covering is about control.
Biblical covering is actually about protection.

A healthy spiritual covering:

  • corrects you
  • sharpens you
  • protects your blind spots
  • discerns your motives
  • keeps pride from growing unchecked
  • helps steward influence responsibly

Without covering, influence becomes intoxicating.

And intoxicated voices hurt people.

Mature Voices Invite Correction

One of the clearest signs of spiritual maturity is teachability.

Mature communicators are correctable communicators.

They can hear:

  • “Wait.”
  • “Take that down.”
  • “That was pride.”
  • “You were too harsh.”
  • “You missed the heart of God.”
  • “That post came from offense.”
  • “That wording was careless.”

And instead of becoming defensive, they receive it.

Why?

Because they care more about righteousness than reputation.

Immature voices protect image.
Mature voices protect integrity.

The modern media world teaches people to manage perception.

The Kingdom teaches people to crucify pride.

Journalism, Media, and the Responsibility of Truth

This also applies to journalism and reporting.

The media industry often rewards outrage more than truth.

Speed matters more than accuracy.
Opinion matters more than wisdom.
Narrative matters more than integrity.

But Christians in media cannot operate like the world.

Truth is sacred.

Words carry weight.

A headline can shape nations.
A clip can destroy reputations.
A lie repeated enough times can disciple culture.

Media is not just information distribution.
It is spiritual formation.

And every communicator will eventually answer to God for how they used their words.

Representation Matters

On social media, you are never “just posting.”

You are representing:

  • your beliefs
  • your values
  • your leadership
  • your family
  • your church
  • your spirit

Most importantly, if you claim Christ, you represent Jesus.

That should sober every influencer, journalist, communicator, creative, and public voice.

Not all influence produces fruit.

Some influence only produces noise.

One builds people.
The other builds ego.

The Blessing of Spiritual Covering

Spiritual covering is not suppression.

It is safety.

It is wisdom.

It is alignment.

It allows people to grow without being destroyed by premature exposure.

People under healthy covering become:

  • more grounded
  • more discerning
  • more trustworthy
  • more stable
  • more fruitful
  • more humble

Because submitted people carry different spirits than self-appointed people.

Submission does not weaken your voice.
It purifies it.

The strongest voices in the Kingdom are not the loudest voices.

They are the most surrendered.

The Future of Media Needs Holy Voices

The world does not need more viral personalities.

It needs trustworthy voices.

Voices that fear God more than algorithms.
Voices that value truth more than engagement.
Voices that love righteousness more than attention.
Voices that are submitted, accountable, and spiritually mature.

The future of Christian media cannot be built merely on creativity and communication skill.

It must be built on consecration.

Because the issue was never merely content.

The issue has always been the condition of the heart behind the microphone.
